Throughout several years and different experiences with local partner organizations, STRO realized the need for creating a certification system or method which allows determining the level of expertise that practitioners develop on each phase of the “Apreciando lo Nuestro” methodology, thus their capacity to replicate the techniques and tools without the supervision of STRO advisors.

The certification system created for APLN consist of three essential stages that every practitioner most complete. For each stage there are quantitative and qualitative parameters to be met. Those stages are:

  1. Introductory workshop.
  2. Trainings on each thematic component:
    1. Local Money Flow Diagnose and economic perceptions
    2. Local Mapping of socio economic actors
    3. Economic Awareness workshops
    4.  Coaching techniques for microenterprises
    5. Complementary workshops for microenterprises: Bussiness Plan; Improving my enterprise (quality, diversity, marketing); Networking; Clients commite; Analyzing local prices.
    6. Impact evaluation
  3. Supervised practices of each thematic component (from the list above).

Moreover, as APLN uses a multisensory approach for learning, there are qualitative parameters to accomplish, thus practitioners should prove not only a capacity to replicate the tools and techniques but at the same time the dexterity to deliver the multisensory features with a certain quality level. For that purpose, STRO has developed quality evaluation forms for each thematic component.

The APLN model target is the local economic regeneration, which needs of integral strategies to enhance social changes that are implied, thus APLN practitioners are advised and evaluated to enhance their skills as “agents of local change”  or catalysts of social change.

Following a compilation of profile experiences from different organizations and projects that have integrated the “Apreciando lo Nuestro” model into their programs as new approach to work with their target groups.
